Duties

Sheriff John Dennee is pleased to announce the Forest County Sheriff’s Office has joined the NIXLE System and is now able to communicate directly to citizens and visitors of Forest County through text messaging or email.

The NIXLE system is a web based publishing system that allows the Sheriff’s office to create and assign messages at a priority level ensuring important information reaches you in a timely manner.  Such message can consist of Severe Weather Alerts, Missing Children Alerts, Missing Person Alerts, Hazardous Situation Alerts, and Informational Advisory’s.  This is a free service for the Public Service Agency and inflicts no cost to the taxpayer.

To sign up for the service, text your zip code to 888777 and you will receive real-time alerts and advisories directly from the Forest County Sheriff’s Office.  There is no charge for registering but standard text messaging rates will apply.  You can opt out at any time by texting “STOP” to 888777.  You may also receive alerts through email, however you will need to visit the www.nixle.com website to view instructions to sign up for that service.
